12 weeks to Berlin Marathon : run fast , run far, run vary

To finish a marathon in a better time. Yes, we all have to run almost everyday. My total volume of this week is 60 km. To tell you the truth , 60 km is just a number and it is not as important as how I ran during my week.

12 weeks to Berlin Marathon : run fast , run far, run vary

Recently I has stopped swim and bike training. It would be just for a while as I would like to put all my focus to marathon training. To be really honest, I miss multisport training very very much. I miss a brick sessions when I have to run on tired leg and fight with my negative thoughts until finish. I miss open water swimming session when I can have a brief escape from reality , truly be with myself and get some fresh energy back when I complete a session.

It's only 12 weeks to go until I run my 10th marathon and I really need to do it right this time. So I stopped swimming and cycling and run almost everyday. As a full time employee, to run 5-6 days a week and build up the volume to 100+ km per week would not easy and it definitely something I have never done before.

What I train ?

*Mon: 14 km mid long run & short stride
Tue: 16 km long run
Wed: off & rest
Thu: 8 km interval session
Fri: 10km under race pace
Sat: 12 km race pace & short stride
Sun: off & rest
*
Total 60 km

How I feel ?

From running around 30-40 km per week when I trained for IRONMAN 70.3 and standard distance to running 60-100 km per week training. Injury is my most concern issue as it could happen easily if I put too much and too soon of volume and intensity and do not allow enough time for body to recovered. Luckily, I can find an experienced Thai coach ( 2.21 hrs marathon runner) who can guide me through this journey.

Your take home messages

To finish a marathon in a better time. Yes, we all have to run almost everyday.

My total volume of this week is 60 km. To tell you the truth , 60 km is just a number and it is not as important as how I ran during my week. As you can notice, I didn't run in single distance and single speed for the whole week.

**Speeds and distances through out my week are varied and you can use this idea next time you plan your own training plan. **

Hope you enjoy my blog and stay with me through ups and downs during my journey to Berlin Marathon 2019.
